Funeral, memorial service Monday for Marathon bombing victims
Boston Marathon bombing victim Krystle Campbell will be buried Monday, and Boston University will remember graduate student Lu Lingzi at a memorial service.
A statewide moment of silence was to be observed Monday at 2:50 p.m., exactly a week after the explosions at the finish line.A funeral mass for Campbell, who was just shy of her 30th birthday, was set for 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Medford before a burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
On Sunday, hundreds of people waited to pay their respects at a wake, some standing in line for hours.
Gov. Deval Patrick was expected to be among the mourners at Campbell’s funeral, and also planned to attend a memorial service for Lu Lingzi.
Lu’s parents were expected to be at the 7 p.m. service in the George Sherman Union. BU established a scholarship fund in the 23-year-old Chinese woman’s honor.
MIT will hold a public memorial service Wednesday for officer Sean Collier, who was killed Thursday night. His family is having a private wake for him Monday, and a funeral Tuesday.
No plans were announced for the funeral of 8-year-old Martin Richard. His mother and sister remained hospitalized with serious injuries.
