The older brother suspected in the deadly Boston Marathon bombings had a run in with authorities and the court system in 2008.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was pulled over by State Police for speeding on Interstate 93 north in Dorchester in March 2008, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office.

The minor run-in resulted in a $100 fine for speeding and a license plate violation that was eventually dismissed with a payment of $100 in court fees.

A spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney’s office said there was no indication that the younger brother and suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, had any court dealings.

The brothers are accused of being the ones to plant bombs along Boylston Street during last week’s Boston Marathon. The backpack explosives killed three people and injured about 180 others.

The duo then fled from police early Friday morning. They eventually ended up in a gunfight with officers in Watertown. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed during the gunfight. His cause of death has not been released.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was caught hiding in a boat and the federal charges facing him were unsealed Monday.
