In honor of Masturbation Month, which is May (who knew?) local sex ed collaboratives Pleasure Rush! and ScrewSmart have launched a fundraiser on Crowdrise.com to raise awareness of the Philly Masturbate-a-thon 2013.

They said the Masturbate-a-Thon will give residents “a way to celebrate and mobilize around pleasure-politics at the same time.”The organizations wrote on the site that the Philly Masturbate-a-Thon has the power to reduce stigma and shame around sexuality, promote sexual health, create a community dialogue around the importance and “give you an excuse to jerk-off for hours.”‘

They’re asking participants to start their own Crowdrise page to share “thoughts, feelings, and experiences” as they “get it on”with themselves all month.

Those who show pride in their “regular self-loving routine” will have successfully joined the Masturbate-a-thon.

Funds donated through the site will go toward supporting the sex-positive, pleasure-based education and prevention that ScrewSmart and Pleasure Rush conduct during the rest of the year.

The collaboratives are encouraging people to “raise money in support of all that wacking off you’ll be doing” and said they’ll send a “Fap Package” with more information to support participants.

Those who donate $50 will be deemed “self screwers,” $100 are “master wankers” and $250 are “hell’abaters.”

Winners will be crowned in different categories, including “most creative fantasy,” “most unique ways of getting yourself off throughout the month,” “most pleasure connections” and “most money raised.”

They’ll be honored at the Creamium sexual game show and dance party, slated to cap off the month of debauchery on May 31 at Ruba, 416 Green Street, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The organizations have so far raised $85 out of a $3,000 goal, but regardless of funds, the show – and tell – will go on.
