NJ gun owner charged after his son, 4, shoots and kills playmate, 6
Authorities are holding a Toms River, N.J., gun owner responsible after his 4-year-old son accidentally shot and killed a 6-year-old neighbor outside their home last month.
Anthony Senatore, 33, was arrested Monday night in nearby Bayville by investigators with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling the Ocean County investigation, Toms River Patch reports.
Senatore is charged with five counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of children and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of children. He is also charged with a disorderly persons offense for enabling access by minors to a loaded firearm, according to Patch.com.
Authorities say Senatore’s 4-year-old son accidentally shot and killed 6-year-old Brandon Holt with a .22-caliber rifle he found inside his home as the two boys played on the evening of April 8.
Investigators recovered a total of five firearms from Senatore’s home while investigating the shooting, including the .22-caliber rifle. Each allegedly unsecured weapon drew a second-degree count of endangering the welfare of children.
