Bedridden man beaten in Northeast home invasion
A bedridden man was beaten late Sunday during a home invasion in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police say the 58-year-old victim apparently buzzed in his assailants believing it was a friend of his. That’s when five or six gunmen stormed his apartment, with several beating the disabled man at gunpoint as others ransacked his townhouse on the 9400 block of Ashton Road.
The suspects stole jewelry, $200, a cell phone and a TV, as well as the victim’s keys and identification, from the Woodbridge Mews home.
Numerous media reports have identified the victim as a Marine Corps veteran.
The victim sustained cuts to his face and legs, but refused to be taken to a hospital, police said. He told investigators the gunmen had hoodies covering their faces.
