Man injured in collision with responding firefighter
A 35-year-old man was critically injured in Wilmington, Del., on Wednesday night when his car was struck by a firefighter on his way to a fire.
The accident occurred about 10:25 p.m. at West Second and North Harrison streets, DelawareOnline.com reports.
The firefighter, identified as a battalion chief with the city fire department, was en route to a blaze on Woodlawn Avenue. He reportedly was driving a fire department SUV, with its emergency lights activated.
The 35-year-old Wilmington man was flown by Delaware State Police medevac helicopter to Christiana Hospital for treatment, according to the DelawareOnline.com report. The firefighter was treated and released from the hospital.
