Greenway Conservancy to maintain Armenian Heritage Park

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy will soon begin a three-year commitment to maintain Armenian Heritage Park, which opened between Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Christopher Columbus Park in May of 2012.

The park has brought two interactive designs surrounded by seating, brick paving and landscaping to the Greenway, which is Boston’s only organically maintained public park. According to the Conservancy, the cultural space “celebrates those who have migrated to the Massachusetts’ shores, contributing to the richness of American life and culture.”

“Since our community first conceived of Armenian Heritage Park as our gift to the Commonwealth and the city, we have been focused on providing an engaging experience and green open park space of the highest quality,” said James Kalustian, president of The Armenian Heritage Foundation.

“Having seen what an excellent job the Conservancy has done in maintaining those same standards of excellence on the Greenway, we are confident that the Conservancy will be the ideal maintenance partner for us.”

According to Jesse Brackenbury, CEO of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, the park’s elaborate paved labyrinth has been popular, as has its split dodecahedron sculpture.

“We are looking forward to putting our best maintenance practices to work in the park so that people who come from near and far continue to enjoy the experience,” said Brackenbury.

The contract will begin July 1.
