New Jersey cop charged in fatal Maryland road rage shooting
A Burlington County, N.J., man who is an officer with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has been charged with shooting and killing a man during a road rage incident in Maryland over the weekend.
The fatal road rage shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Route 3 and Interstate 97 in Anne Arundel County, the Courier-Post reports.
Joseph Walker, 40, of Easthampton, is accused of shooting and killing 36-year-old Joseph Harvey Jr. after Harvey allegedly drove his Honda Accord into the minivan Walker was driving. He is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter, the paper reports.
Walker’s wife and three children reportedly were inside the minivan as the law-enforcement officer fatally shot Harvey, of Halethorpe, Md., when he and his passenger approached Walker.
He was being held in Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $1 million bail. He was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains.
