Police are looking for two men caught on camera in Rhawnhurst last month during an attempted robbery that police said was foiled when a quick-thinking employee pressed a panic button.

Investigators said the suspects entered the Tobacco Junction at 8259 Bustleton Ave. at about 9:30 a.m. on May 23.

One of the men, who was armed with a gun, approached the employee, saying, “Don’t push the button.”

The employee apparently didn’t comply.

Police said she pressed a panic button she was wearing around her neck, prompting the gunman to pistol-whip her in the head.

After the failed robbery attempt, both suspects fled on foot.

They were last seen running south on Bustleton Avenue.

The alleged gunman is described as a tall black male around 30 years old with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a green hooded camouflage jacket.

The second suspect is described as a black male, also about 30 years of age, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket.

Anyone with information about the crime or suspects is asked to call 911, to contact the Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153 or 3154, or to submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-686-TIPS (8477), texting PPD TIP (773847), emailing tips@phillypolice.com or by filling out this online form.
