(Update) Man arrested outside John Kerry’s Beacon Hill house
Vladimir Romanov, 29 of West Roxbury, was arrested Sunday for taking pictures of a window outside Secretary of State John Kerry’s Beacon Hill home.
According to Suffolk District Attorney Jake Wark, Romanov was arraigned today and released on his own recognizance on a public drinking charge, but at the request of prosecutors, a judge revoked the defendant’s bail on an open assault with a dangerous weapon charge out of Quincy District Court and ordered him held on a warrant sought by probation officers for allegedly violating the terms of his probation on a drunk driving case.
“We had a conversation with him and at the end of the conversation, the police made the decision to take him into custody for the open container law, and he was transported to the station and booked,” Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Monday.
“He didn’t speak very much. He basically indicated that he had trouble speaking English, so he didn’t give a long explanation as to why he was there,” Davis said. “It could very well just been an individual who had too much to drink and made a bad decision.”
Kerry wasn’t home at the time of the man’s arrest. He was visiting his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where she is recovering from a seizure.
