Couple charged with stealing $675,000 from elderly patients
A Staten Island couple has been charged with allegedly stealing $675,000 from elderly medical patients.
Amanda Zieminksi, 26, and Clyde Forteau used Zieminski’s job as a licensed practical nurse at South Shore Physicians’ was the gateway to their illegal spending spree.
The two opened numerous credit and debit card accounts under patients’ names and indulged in a flashy lifestyle with purchases totaling $675,000, NY1 reports.
The newly engaged couple bragged on Facebook about how they were living in a fairytale, posting photos from vacations and major sporting events.
“He’s no Prince Charming, she’s no Cinderella,” Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donavon told the News. “However, this story does have a fairy tale ending – for law enforcement.”
Zieminski is charged with grand larceny. Forteau is believed to have picked out certain seniors to target, leading to charges of grand larceny as a hate crime.
Three other suspects were also nabbed for their involvement in the identity theft ring.
