Clover Food Lab delays reopening after Salmonella scare
(Update) Clover Food Lab is now slated to reopen Thursday after being shut down for nearly two weeks due to concerns over a Salmonella outbreak, and to celebrate, the popular Cambridge-based company is giving out free French fries.
Not only that; management is also reassuring customers that their facilities are Salmonella-free.
“We threw everything out. Anything that could have possibly been contaminated,” Clover CEO Ayr Muir wrote in a message on the company website. “We want to have absolutely no doubt that our food is going to be delicious and safe.”
Surfaces were sanitized multiple times, he said, and all environmental testing came back clean. Employees were also screened, and they are still waiting on all those results.
Muir went on to thank patrons for their patience, saying “We’re so excited to see you all. You’ve been amazing as we’ve worked through this.”
Clover shut its doors on July 13 after learning that some people contracted Salmonella after eating at the restaurant. State officials said yesterday there were 15 confirmed cases of Salmonella.
The infected had also eaten at various other restaurants; state health officials have not identified the source of the outbreak.
