A law enforcement official today told The Boston Globe that a 24-year-old was savagely beaten in her apartment before being taken to five different ATMS, stabbed to death, and dumped at Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park.

The body of Amy Lord, a Bentley graduate who lived in South Boston, was discovered around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Edwin J. Alemany, 28, of Boston was due in court today and charged with assault with intent to murder in connection with a separate stabbing around midnight Tuesday on Gates Street, however investigators would not confirm whether he was tied to Lord’s murder, which happened after 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The Globe Reported today that Alemany was being treated as “a person of interest” in Lord’s murder investigation; law enforcement has not publicly confirmed that development.

“As we do in any violent crime, investigators are looking for any pattern that might help us identify the perpetrator or links to other cases,” Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley said Wednesday.”This includes a review of other assaults on women in Boston, and particularly South Boston, during the past 24 hours, but at this point we aren’t in a position to link Ms. Lord’s homicide with any other offense. As of this hour, no one has been charged in connection with her death.”

“Based on what we know about Ms. Lord’s abduction and homicide, I want to implore the people of Boston, and especially South Boston, to keep their eyes open for strange or threatening behavior. I ask you to watch out for your friends and your neighbors. And I especially want to urge people not to enter a car or confined area with any stranger,” Conley said.

Boston police said Lord was allegedly kidnapped while en route to the gym around 5 a.m. Tuesday in South Boston. She was stabbed multiple times, according to police, and her car was set on fire.

Authorities said they planned to release images of Lord’s abduction in the hopes of getting tips.

The Boston Globe reported that the murder may be connected to two other attacks in South Boston in the same time period, including the Gates Street attack, and that officials close to the investigation said Lord was in her South Boston neighborhood when two men grabbed her at knife point.

Lord was reportedly living in an apartment on Dorchester Street in South Boston, and a female tenant had been reported missing from the building this week, the Globe reported.

The body was found by a cyclist, and authorities were quick to say that it was under investigation as a homicide.

Neighbors were baffled by the discovery, citing the 475-acre wooded area as a generally safe place.

“I don’t see her car here or nothing, nobody’s car, so that’s a little strange it’s not somewhere you walk from. Usually you park your car and take your walk,” Paul Lynch, who lives nearby, told WHDH.
