Police: Former Dover airman arrested for child rape
Delaware State Police last week arrested an airman formerly stationed at the Dover Air Force Base for allegedly raping his 4-year-old stepson six years ago.
Authorities said the investigation touched off July 26 after the child, now 10, told his biological father he had been raped over the course of a year by his stepfather, 30-year-old Jesus Munoz, beginning in February 2007.
The young victim told authorities at the Child Advocacy Center in Dover the abuse would occur on weekends when his mother was working and he was home alone with Munoz.
Agents with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations on July 26 turned Munoz over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, where he was stationed at the Patrick Air Force Base in Melbourne County.
Munoz was on Thursday extradited by the Delaware Department of Justice State Detectives and arrested.
He was charged with 52 counts of first-degree unlawful sexual contact, two counts of first-degree rape and one count each of continuous sexual abuse of a child and of second-degree assault.
Munoz was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $173,000 cash bond.
Police said they will only be releasing limited information regarding the alleged crimes due to the sensitivity of the case and out of consideration for the juvenile victim.
