The race-car driver who crashed during Saturday’s Sprint Car Challenge on an Abbotsville, Pa., track has died of complications.

Kramer Williamson, a native of Palmyra, Pa., flipped his sprint car, Pink Panther, several times during the first heat of the United Racing Company 360 at Lincoln Speedway, according to a news release.

Williamson was airlifted to York Hospital. He was listed in critical condition through the night and died of complications during surgery about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the news release.

“URC lost the most popular driver and accomplished driver in our storied history,” said John Zimmerman, co-owner of United Racing Company.

Williamson won 410 Sprint Car races throughout his more than 40-year career. He was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2008.

Kramer is survived by his wife Sharon, son Kurt, daughter Felecia and brother George.

“Kramer had such a love for this sport that included his competitors and race fans,” Miller said. “He was an intense driver that always found a win to bring some humor into any situation; it was just who Kramer was.”
