A police officer shot a man while he was stabbing his girlfriend in a Bronx apartment Saturday night.

At 8:25 p.m., a woman told two uniformed police officers near E. 149th Street and Morris Avenue in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx that a man was assaulting someone in a nearby apartment.

After arriving at the Morris Avenue apartment, the officers saw a 37-year-old man stabbing a woman in the torso and legs.

Cops ordered Guillermo Melendez to stop, but when he didn’t comply, one officer shot the man in the torso with his service weapon.

The 35-year-old stabbing victim, who was Melendez’ common-law wife, suffered numerous stab wounds to her neck, chest and legs, police said.

She and her attacker were taken to Lincoln Hospital where they were both in stable but critical condition as of Sunday morning.

Police charged Melendez with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, assault on a police officer and menacing.

The police officers were taken to Jacobi Hospital for ringing in their ears from the gunshot.

Cops recovered an 11-inch kitchen knife at the scene.
