Joan Krajewski, former City Councilwoman, dies at 79
Former Philadelphia City Councilwoman Joan Krajewski died this morning after a long battle with lung disease. She was 79.
Krajewski, a Philadelphia native, represented the 6th Council District in Northeast Philadelphia for 32 years. She retired in 2012.
City Councilman Bobby Henon, who now represents the district, called Krajewski a model of public service.
“Her feisty nature and sharp political acumen made her equal parts legendary and approachable as a political leader in the Northeast,” Henon said.
“You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone at the Aramingo Diner, Mayfair Diner or The Dining Car that doesn’t remember Joan passing through at one time or another.”
