North Attleboro police said they will review the actions of officers who were shown on video hitting a man with their batons prior to arresting him over the holiday weekend.

The video, which was posted on YouTube and since taken down, was taken of a portion of an incident that took place on Sunday, North Attleboro police said in a statement.

“We are aware that the end of the incident was captured on video. As we do with every used of force incident, all information is being thoroughly reviewed,” police said.

Officers were called to a home by a woman who said her ex-boyfriend was strangling her and trying to prevent her from calling police. She was able to break free.

When officers arrived, they found the man outside his ex-girlfriend’s home. He proceeded to taunt them, police said.

“The man, who was much larger than either of the officers, responded by laughing and telling them, ‘There are just two of you? You better call for back up,’” police said in the statement.

Police said the man was immediately combative with officers and took a combative stance with his fists clenched.

“Officers used nonlethal force to take the suspect into custody,” police said in the statement.

The video shows about four officers surrounding the man. Some of the officers use their batons and hit the man. The man at one point appears to swing at the officers.

The man, who was not identified by police, was initially held on $10,000 bail.
