UPDATE: Police have recovered the vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run in Boston’s South End neighborhood Thursday evening that left a woman dead.

Christina Martinez, 21, of Dorchester, has been charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and driving without a license, according to the Boston Police Department.

The victim was a female pedestrian in her 50s.

Martinez’s gray Toyota Corolla was impounded, and she will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Friday morning, the BPD reports.

EARLIER: Boston Police are searching for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run incident in the South End neighborhood on Thursday evening.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Washington and Northampton Street, according to the Boston Police Department.

A female pedestrian assumed to be in her mid-50′s was walking through the area when she was hit by a silver or grey sedan. The sedan immediately took off in the direction of Roxbury without stopping. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center in the South End with life-threatening injuries.

Police did not indicate whether the woman was walking in a crosswalk at the time of the incident.
