Video: Five Dunkin’ Donuts in Boston hit by robber in recent months

A Dunkin’ Donuts shop in West Roxbury was robbed earlier this week and police are trying to determine if the suspect is connected to a spree of hold-ups targeting the donut chain.

Recent robberies in Boston bring the tally of held-up Dunkin’ Donuts shops in Greater Boston to more than a dozen.

In the most recent robbery, police said a man wearing a dark mask walked into the Dunkin’ Donuts at 1435 VFW Parkway at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and showed a knife. He then demanded cash from the register and fled through the parking lot.

That same Dunkin’ Donuts was also held up in July. There have been five Dunkin’ Donuts in the West Roxbury and Roslindale area held up since March. They are all near the Dedham border.

Canton-based Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a reward for information that leads to a conviction of the suspect or suspects who are believed to be responsible for the spree. The reward was initially set at $2,500 in August, but last week it was increased to $10,000.

Other recent Dunkin’ Donuts robberies have taken place in Canton, Norwood, North Attleboro and Raynham. In many of the robberies, the man wears a mask and displays a gun or a knife.

Boston police said detectives are working with investigators from other communities to hunt down the suspect or suspects.
