Man shot while trying to flee gunman in Hartranft
A 47-year-old man was shot early Saturday morning in the Hartranft section of North Philadelphia while attempting to run away from a gunman, according to police.
Investigators said the victim told police he was shortly before 12:30 a.m. walking to his car on the 1000 block of West Cumberland Street when he was approached by an unknown black male.
He said the suspect didn’t say anything but pointed a gun at him.
The victim allegedly slapped the gun away from the assailant and attempted to flee on foot.
Authorities said as the victim tried to run away, he was shot once in the leg.
The victim then ran up the street until he saw the offender flee on foot toward 11th Street.
He was taken by private vehicle to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a 5-foot-6-inch to 5-foot-7-inch tall black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and brandishing a silver automatic handgun.
