Metro-North and the Long Island Rail Road will run extra trains on Thanksgiving, while subways and buses are set to run on a Sunday schedule.

Additional inbound and outbound trains will run on Thanksgiving Day to help accommodate parade-goers.

More than 100,000 passengers are expected to take Metro-North on Thanksgiving, making it the busiest holiday of the year.

On Black Friday, there will be fewer morning trains and more midday trains on Metro-North.

For LIRR passengers, additional trains will begin running on Wednesday as well, with nine extra trains leaving Penn Station in the afternoon.

A total of 17 extra LIRR trains will be added on Thanksgiving Day, including six westbound trains and 11 eastbound trains.

Off-peak fares will be in effect Thursday through Sunday for both Metro-North and LIRR.

All New York City subways and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day. They will return to normal weekday schedule on Friday except for a few minor adjustments noted on the MTA’s website.

Subways and buses will return to normal weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday.

Metro-North will resume regular weekend schedule with a few extra trains and additional cars on existing trains. LIRR will have extra service that will remain in effect for weekends through Jan. 5.
