An 18-year-old Lehigh Valley man shot his uncle with a pellet gun after accusing him of stealing a $100 gift card.

Dominick Mocerino III, of Bangor, Pa., was charged on Dec. 26 with aggravated assault, according to the Allentown Morning Call. Mocerino shot his uncle, Jeffrey Proshold, with the plastic pellet gun and then punched him in the face as he tried to push him down a flight of stairs, the newspaper reported.

Around 3 p.m. on Dec. 26, Proshold, who was staying with his sister and his nephew for a few days, was moving his belongings out of their house when Mocerino confronted him.

He accused his uncle of stealing his $100 gift card and pointed the pellet gun. As Proshold was about to walk upstairs, his nephew shot him in neck.

As Proshold tried to run upstairs calling for his sister, Mocerino tried to shove him down the stairs and punched him twice in the face.

Proshold’s mother pulled her son off her brother, who ran outside and jumped into an awaiting car, according to the newspaper.

Proshold was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and possession of an instrument of crime.

Narlesky sent Mocerino to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
