Well, this isn’t awesome.

Awesome Fest, the group that brings pop-up movie theaters to places around the city, just had its van and about $100,000 worth of equipment stolen on New Year’s Eve.

The van — a two-toned 1993 Dodge Ram — was parked on Second Street behind a fire house in Northern Liberties for maintenance.

“I woke up and it just wasn’t there. It was gone,” said Josh Goldbloom, Awesome Fest’s founder and artistic director.

A 30-foot outdoor movie screen, audio deck, cables, microphones, Blu-ray players and more — worth upward of $100,000, according to some reports — were inside the van when it was stolen. The license plate is JGG-1395.

“It’s basically as if someone walked into a United Artist movie theater and walked out with everything,” Goldbloom said. “It had absolutely everything.”

Goldbloom filed a police report and reached out to the insurance company. He had hoped surveillance video caught something but so far, nothing.

For the past three years, the group has been showing outdoor movies all around the city. This fall, its drive-in movie theater showed double features at Eakins Oval.

“The support has been humbling,” Goldbloom said. “We’re hoping we can find the van and the equipment.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
