One Fund announces plans for 2014 distribution
The One Fund Boston will distribute another round of funding to survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing in July 2014, the organization announced Thursday.
One Fund Boston collected nearly $61 million in donations during its first 90 days and distributed all of the funds to over 230 individuals injured by the terror attack. As of the end of 2013, the Fund has received over $12 million in new donations.
“The severity of the injuries suffered by so many last April is almost too much to comprehend and we understand money alone cannot replace all that was lost,” James Gallagher, Executive Vice President of John Hancock and President of One Fund Boston said in a prepared statement. “But the outpouring of love and overwhelming generosity and support from thousands of individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations from all over the world helps offer hope for a brighter future.”
A spokesman for the Fund said an increase in donations is anticipated in 2014, especially approaching the one year anniversary – the 2014 Marathon.
