Brookline Police are searching for a teenage boy who went missing on Monday.

Caleb Jacoby, 16, disappeared from his Brookline Village home around 12:30 pm. He has not been heard from since.

Caleb is in the 11th grade at Maimonides School in Brookline. The school has spearheaded efforts to find the teen, conducting a community-wide search Wednesday morning.

The teen is described has 5 feet 11 inches tall, 140 pounds, with light brown hair and a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a navy polo shirt, navy chinos or jeans, a brown winter jacket with a hood and brown shoes with white socks. He is a frequent visitor to area libraries and Temple Young Israel in Brookline.

Caleb Jacoby “took his studies very seriously. He took life seriously. He wasn’t easygoing,” his Hebrew teacher Efrat Libschitz told MassLive.com. ”He’s a very quiet boy, he’s also a very good one. People really love him in school because he is a very good person.”

Caleb is the son of popular Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby, who said in a statement on Facebook that the family is very grateful for all the help they’ve received in the search for Caleb.

“Thank you to the hundreds of people who have shared our post, put up flyers and lent their support to help locate Caleb,” he wrote.

Anyone with information should contact the Brookline police at 617-730-2222.
