Cherry Hill man arrested for stealing copper pipes from a vacant home
A 37-year-old Cherry Hill man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he stripped a vacant home of its copper piping and caused the house to flood, police reported Monday.
Kirk W. Brumbaugh, of the 200 block of Avon Road, was seen lurking behind a vacant home on the 300 block of State Street and carrying a duffel bag around 2:30 p.m., police said.
As police arrived the man emerged from the rear of the house and ran north through the neighborhood. Police found Brumbaugh after a short search of the surrounding area.
After noticing Brumbaugh’s boots and pants were wet, police checked the house and found that the copper piping had been stripped and cut into pieces and about 4 to 6 inches of water in the basement.
Brumbaugh was charged with burglary, theft, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to Camden County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
