The Framingham woman who ran a stop sign Tuesday and caused an ambulance to flip over, killing a patient inside, will face criminal charges.

Lisa Zemack, 61, will be charged with vehicular homicide by negligent operation, among other counts, the Worcester district attorney’s office told the Boston Globe on Wednesday. By failing to yield at the stop sign, her Mercedes sedan traveled into the path of the ambulance, which spun around and flipped over. Zemack has been cited for speeding several times in the past.

Karen Scott, 58, of Upton, was the patient inside the ambulance who was killed when the vehicle flipped over, Metro previously reported. A paramedic was also injured.

“An initial investigation has determined that the driver of the other vehicle failed to stop for a posted stop sign and struck the rear of our ambulance, causing it to flip and roll over before coming to rest against a guard rail,” Randy Jusseaume, president of Community EMS in Marlborough, said in a statement Wednesday.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit will also assist in the investigation of the crash.

Milford Police posted a video of the incident, which was caught by a neighboring business security camera, on its Facebook page.
