The third installment of the Boston Calling music festival will feature bands including Bastille, Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse and Death Cab for Cutie.

Boston Calling officially announced its 22-act lineup Tuesday morning. The City Hall Plaza festival, scheduled for May 23-25, will take place over three days for the first time.

Besides the headliners, “an additional superstar” will be announced in the coming weeks, Boston Calling said. The lineup was curated by Aaron Dessner of The National, in collaboration with Crash Line Productions and Bowery Boston.

“Having performed at Boston Calling in May 2013, I can say from experience that playing the festival is electric and we couldn’t be happier with the amazing group of artists who will perform at Boston Calling this year,” Dessner said in a statement.

Additional acts include: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Brand New, The Head and the Heart, Tegan and Sara, Jenny Lewis, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, The Neighbourhood, Phosphorescent, Built to Spill, Kurt Vile and The Violators, Walk off the Earth, Warpaint, Cass McCombs, Maximo Park, The Districts, tigermanWOAH! and Magic Man.

Boston Calling debuted last May and quickly won many fans and organizers, who put on a second festival in September. An estimated 70,000 people attended the first two events. The fall festival featured acts like Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, Kendrick Lamar and Major Lazer. The spring festival featured The National, Of Monsters and Men, Matt and Kim, and Fun.

Presale tickets for the upcoming festival will be available beginning Wednesday.
