Temple student, 21, grazed by stray bullet
A 21-year-old Temple University student was struck by a bullet that strayed from an off-campus gunfight early Sunday, police said.
After a shots rang out around 2 a.m. at “Let Out Bar” night club at 17th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, a stray bullet grazed the student’s abdomen a few blocks away.
The student was treated and released from Hahnemann University Hospital.
Police said a confrontation between two nightclub patrons led one of them to leave the bar and grab his gun from his vehicle, which wasn’t parked far away.
When the gunman returned with his weapon a shootout ensued with the nightclub’s armed security guards.
The gunman suffered a gunshot wound to the knee during the scuffle and drove himself to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is in stable condition, police said.
All three security guards were detained and then cleared of any wrongdoing, police said.
