Saying that international service is the fastest growing segment at Logan Airport, Gov. Deval Patrick announced on Tuesday that Boston’s airport will receive a $100 million renovation.

Patrick announced the investment, funded by Massport’s capital plan, during a speech at a business summit with Massport and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.

The renovation will focus on improving service for international passengers to help grow the Massachusetts global economy, Patrick’s office said.

Plans call for a new post-security connector between terminals E and C, improvements to hold rooms and concessions, renovations to accommodate expanded international air service and the installation of self-service kiosks to expedite processing passports.

“Lasting growth in the 21st century global economy will come from our competitiveness in global markets,” Patrick said in a statement. “These new renovations to better serve our international passengers build on our growth strategy to open up Massachusetts to new markets and will ensure that we remain competitive for many years to come.”

Patrick’s office said international service at Logan Airport is up 20 percent over the last 10 years and that 5.7 million international travelers passed through the airport last year, making up 1 in 5 passengers.

The renovations are expected to start in July and take two years.
