UPDATE: The MTA said it has restored all service to and from Grand Central Terminal, reopening up the New Haven and Harlem lines as well the Hudson line service.

Transit officials said that all four tracks were cleared and restored after approval by the FDNY.

Despite the return of service, MTA said that the trains would run at reduced speeds around the site of the building collapse, resulting in delays and crowds during Wednesday night’s commute.

Original story below:

Wednesday morning’s explosion and building collapse in Harlem will force Metro-North railroad customers reroute their commutes until further notice.

Debris blasted onto the tracks used by the commuter line, forcing delays and transfers. No trains were stranded by the incident.

With all Metro-North railroad service in and out of Grand Central Terminal indefinitely suspended, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority advised commuters looking to get out of the city in the afternoon to take the subway to the Bronx.

Northbound riders who use the Harlem and New Haven Line stations should take the 5 train up to the East 180th Street stop, transfer to the 2 train and head to the 233rd Street Station — which is walking distance to Metro-North’s Woodlawn Station.

Those taking the Hudson Line should take either the 4 or the D trains to the 161st Street Station at Yankee Stadium and walk west to Metro-North’s nearby Yankees-East 153rd Street Station.

More updates on service changes are available on the MTA website.
