Worth the wait? MBTA renderings show future Government Center Station
As Boston commuters embark on the start of a two-year closure of Government Center Station, which begins Saturday, the MBTA is offering a sneak peak of what passengers can expect.
New renderings of the improved facility show what T officials have described as a more accessible, safe, modern, and comfortable facility.
The agency said the project will combine improvements to the Green Line station, Blue Line station, and Cambridge Street/Government Center Plaza.
The Green and Blue Line stations will include a new head house structure at the main entrance and raised platforms for more accessible boarding of the Green Line low-floor trains, as well as new elevators, escalators, LED signage and an expanded fare collection area, among other improvements.
