Human remains found in Somerville
Authorities in Somerville came across a gruesome scene Sunday afternoon when human remains were discovered near the School Street Bridge.
“At approximately 12:45 p.m. today, human remains were discovered near train tracks off School Street in Somerville,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a press release Sunday evening. “Somerville Police and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are investigating.”
Police are working to determine whether the remains belong to a Somerville man who was brutally murdered nearby in January, the Somerville News Weekly reported.
The dismembered body of 66-year-old Vincent Lalli was found behind Coakley Middle School in Norwood on Jan. 29, after his roommates allegedly beat him to death. Several body parts were later discovered when a neighbor was exercising their dog in the area behind the school.
The two alleged murderers, a father and son, are awaiting trial.
