More than 100 guns turned over for Boston gun buyback
More than 100 guns have been turned over to police in the first week of Boston’s gun buyback program.
Boston police said on Monday, a week since the initiative was launched, that 136 guns were turned over.
“To those who’ve taken advantage of the program we say: Thank you for making our community safer,” Boston police said.
Those who turn in active guns get a $200 Visa gift card.
During last week’s kick-off of the effort, Mayor Marty Walsh said the buyback was the “first step” in youth violence prevention efforts.
