Meek Mill sues Philly Police after pot arrest costs rapper money
Rapper Meek Mill claims the Philadelphia Police department owes him money.
The Philadelphia-born hip hop artist was arrested in October 2012 after he wouldn’t allow police to search his vehicle. Cops claimed they smelled pot, but Mill said they didn’t find anything, according to TMZ.
Because of the arrest Mill missed a flight to Atlanta where he was supposed to make an appearance. He wants police to pay for the cancelled jet ($22,000) and lost appearance fee ($39,000), the website reported. He also claims the negative publicity cost him a $2 million deal with the Puma shoe and apparel company.
The deal was negotiated down to $650,000, according to the gossip news site.
Mill claims false imprisonment and invasion of privacy.
