David Ortiz is the new Dunkin’ Donuts spokesman
From now on, when Red Sox star David Ortiz runs, he’ll be running on Dunkin’.
Big Papi announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he has signed on as a spokesman for the Massachusetts-based coffee and doughnut chain Dunkin’ Donuts.
“BIG news: I’m the new Dunkin’ Donuts spokesperson. Lots of Iced Coffees in my future! Follow @DunkinBoston & look for my commercials soon,” he wrote.
The @DunkinBoston Twitter handle first broke the news on Monday, tweeting photos of Ortiz posing with iced coffees.
The Red Sox designated hitter also has a promotional deal with Samsung, and faced scrutiny earlier this month when he snapped a presidential selfie with Barack Obama using one of the company’s smartphones in front of a national audience.
Ortiz denied that the photo had anything to do with the deal; however, Samsung took some credit for Ortiz’s tweet, telling the Boston Globe that it “was an honor to help [Ortiz] capture such an incredible and genuine moment of joy and excitement.”
