Hammer attack, robbery at MetroCard kiosk in Brooklyn
A man was attacked by hammer and then robbed on Wednesday night at a Brooklyn subway station, police said.
Authorities said that a 32-year-old victim was trying to buy a MetroCard from a kiosk at the Rockaway C train station in the Brownsville section at around 9:20 p.m.
An assailant came up front behind and attacked the man’s head with the hammer. He then demanded the man’s money.
The victim gave his attacker the $140 he had in cash before the hammer-wielding robber fled the scene, according to police.
NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect taken at the subway station, describing him as a black male at about 5-foot-10 and weighing between 130 and 150 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a red long-sleeved shirt and dark pants.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident or the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to submit tips online.
