G train service to be shut down nights next week

More than half of all G train stops will be shut down for four consecutive nights next week.

The service suspension runs Monday night through Friday morning, with no trains between the Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Church Avenue stops in Brooklyn from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The shutdown is part of the MTA’s FastTrack subway maintenance, cleaning and repair program.

Shuttle buses will run between the Bedford-Nostrand Avenues station and the Jay Street-MetroTech F train station in downtown Brooklyn. The buses will stop at Classon Avenue, Clinton-Washington Avenues, Fulton Street and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets.

The MTA suggested using the shuttle buses and taking the F train between Jay Street-MetroTech and Church Avenue. A train service is also available between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets and Jay Street-MetroTech stations.

But next week’s service shutdown isn’t the only bad news for G train riders.

Saturday and Sunday, G trains will run every 20 minutes between Court Square in Queens.

G train service will be disrupted again for five weeks this summer. From July 26 to Sept. 1, the G won’t run between Brooklyn and Queens so that the MTA can make structural repairs to the Greenpoint tube.

The G train will still run in Brooklyn during the summer shutdown, with the northernmost stop at Nassau Avenue. Buses along two routes — Manhattan Avenue and McGuinness Boulevard — will shuttle G train riders to and from Queens.
