#Horny2012: Jason Russell, Invisible Children co-founder, arrested for masturbating in public

A week after getting in the news for the viral “KONY 2012″ video, Invisible Children co-founder Jason Rusell is making headlines again — this time for getting drunk and masturbating in public.

As NBC San Diego reports:

Jason Russell, 33,  was allegedly found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to Lt. Andra Brown. He was detained at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Riviera Road.

Russell is one of the the founders responsible for the “Kony 2012″ video that went viral last week. He is described on the organization’s website as a co-founder and “our grand storyteller and dreamer.” Russell is also described as a Christian and father to two children who wants to have nine more children with his wife he calls his “best friend for over 23 years.”

For days, critics of Invisible Children have been saying that the nonprofit is better at creating a spectacle than making actual concrete change in the world. They shouldn’t have been so skeptical; apparently it’s possible to do both!

This of course is the opportunity we needed to forget all about Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army. Here’s every single joke it’s possible to make about this situation:

  • “He must have had a lot of invisible children on his hands!”
  • “His new video is HORNY 2012!”
  • “How’s he going to explain this to his son?”
  • “But Ross Douthat does it every week in the paper of record!”[h/t]
  • “That KONY 2012 meme really came and went!”[h/t]
  • “Why masturbate in public when you can just join Twitter?”[h/t]
