With Gmail down, Twitter replaces Google as the primary tool for procrastination
Were you wasting time this afternoon at work with five Gchat windows open rapidly typing away to all your friends, when all of a sudden, your worst nightmare became a reality: Gmail crashed.
At first we thought it was our browser, because how could Google, THE Google, fail? Impossible, right? Wrong.
The glitch didn’t last too long, as Google, the leading force on the Internet quickly resolved the issue.
“The problem with Google Mail should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better,” Google said in a statement.
Just as employers most likely rejoiced with the prospect of productivity increasing nationwide, people logged on to Twitter to vent about Gmail’s crash – though most took a humorous approach because the thought of Google crashing is downright hilarious.
David Weinberger (@dweinberger) wrote “It’s an email snow day! #gmail”
The Onion(@theonion) joked, “Google Shuts Down Gmail For Two Hours To Show Its Immense Power.”
Jose Enrique Garcia (@Joe507) wrote, “COME BACK, GMAIL! I SWEAR I WON’T MAKE FUN OF Google+ AGAIN!!!”
Now there’s a promise we’re sure no one can keep.
