The third death following the bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon was a graduate student at Boston University, according to school’s newspaper. The student’s name has not been released.

“The student was one of three friends who watched the race near the finish line,” the report said.

The attacks Monday claimed two other lives and wounded more than 170 people, many critically.

8-year-old Martin Richard died after sustaining injuries from the blast while waiting for his father, a runner, to cross the finish line. His mother and sister were seriously injured. The child’s father released a statement, saying, “My dear son Martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on Boston. My wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries.”

The second victim identified Tuesday was spectator 29-year-old Krystle Campbell from Medford, Massachusetts.

“My daughter was the most lovable girl. She helped everybody and I’m just so shocked right now,” her father said in a statement. “We’re just devastated. She was a wonderful, wonderful girl. Always willing to lend a hand.”

Officials say many of the people injured in the blasts have had amputations. Others remain in comas. Zhou Danling of China, another BU graduate student, is reportedly in a coma at Boston Medical Center, but stable, after suffering serious injuries from the attacks.
