PHOTOS: Streets of Boston eerily empty
With most of the city on lockdown, the streets of Boston and its surrounding neighborhoods were eerily quiet Friday.
The streets of Boston don’t look this empty even at 3 a.m. on a Sunday.
Earlier on Friday, Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino asked everyone to stay inside and not open the door for anyone who is not a police officer. They also urged everyone who went to work this morning to return home.
Law enforcement officials continued to hunt for Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19, one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings. The FBI identified Dzhokhar and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, as the men responsible for the attacks on the Boston Marathon.
Tamerlan was shot and killed in a shootout with police Thursday night.
Below are photos of the unnervingly quiet city, which is usually busy with people and activity on a Friday afternoon.
