Actor Cory Monteith, best known for his role as Finn Hudson on the FOX hit show “Glee” was found dead on Saturday in his Vancouver hotel room, police said.

Police and paramedics found no signs of foul play and the cause of the actor’s death was not immediately known, British Columbia Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe told reporters at a news conference.

Monteith played high school football player, turned glee club leader on “Glee.”

Monteith had opened up about his struggle with substance abuse in the past. He was treated at a rehabilitation facility for an unspecified substance addiction earlier this year.

In 2011 he told Parade magazine about his serious drug problem during his teenage years.

According to reporters, Monteith had been dead for several hours when his body was discovered by police and paramedics who were responding to an emergency call.

“The death of a young person is a tragedy for their family, friends and community,” Lapointe said. “A sudden death is more shocking and our hearts go out to the family and friends who are mourning the loss of this young man.”

While Monteith had a number of small television roles, it wasn’t until “Glee” that his career skyrocketed.

Below are some of Monteith’s best performances as Finn Hudson on “Glee.”
