Four people including a former Microsoft Corp executive died on Friday when a small plane crashed into two homes in East Haven, Connecticut, according to media reports on Saturday.

The dead included the pilot of the plane, his son and two children who were in the home when the plane crashed, the Hartford Courant reported.

Two of the bodies were found on Friday.

The pilot was a former Microsoft Corp executive, Bill Henningsgaard, according to the Daily Astorian in Astoria, Oregon, citing the mayor of Astoria.

Henningsgaard, the son of former Astoria Mayor Edith Henningsgaard-Miller and the brother of city attorney Blair Henningsgaard, was the acting executive director of a non-profit called Eastside Pathways in Bellevue, Washington, according to the newspaper.

“He worked tirelessly to build partnerships and facilitate efforts that put us on the path of engaging the community to actively support every child, step by step, from cradle to career. Bill walked the talk to make our community stronger,” the non-profit wrote on its website.

East Haven officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment. A Microsoft spokesman confirmed that Henningsgaard was a former employee of the company.

The twin-engine propeller plane had taken off from New Jersey Friday morning and had been attempting to land at Tweed New Haven Airport, about 40 miles south of Hartford, in rainy weather when it crashed.
