VIDEO: Soldier takes down anti-Muslim bigot

ABC’s hidden camera show “What Would You Do?” sent out an actor to play a racist, anti-Muslim youngster heckling a cashier, and one soldier was not having it.

The actor, wearing a God Bless America T-shirt, was planted at a deli all day to say things to other customers like, “Did you forget 9/11?” while saying to the cashier, “I don’t want an Arab Muslim taking my order. … I didn’t forget 9/11, buddy.”

While many customers took a stand against the racist “customer,” one stood out for his fatigues and no-nonsense attitude, starting around 4:45 in the video.

The soldier keeps his cool at first, dismissing the kid by saying, “We live in America. He can have any religion he wants.” When the actor asks him, “Aren’t you fighting against these guys?” he replies, ”Not at the moment. Right now I’m ordering a sandwich.”

When the actor escalates his racist antics, the soldier tells him to scram and adds, “That’s the reason I wear the uniform, so anyone can live free in this country.”

When the show’s host John Quinones tells the soldier he’s been on hidden camera and praises the soldier’s actions, he responds that he was simply defending “everyone’s inalienable rights … if you’re an American, you’re an American, period.”
