Timothy Griffin, a republican Congressman from Arkansas’ Second Congressional District, made waves Thursday by tweeting finger-pointing comments about democratic leaders within two minutes of his tweet about a shooting on Capitol Hill.

Griffin, who has just shy of 3,000 followers, tweeted about gunshots on Capitol Hill just as the news broke after 2 p.m. At least one person was injured in the shooting, which is still very much a developing situation. Less than two minutes later, Griffin tweeted again — this time, an aggressive comment towards President Obama, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chich Schumer.

“Stop the violent rhetoric President Obama, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. #Disgusting,” Griffin’s tweet read.

Within seconds, followers angrily responded, accusing Griffin of having mixed-up priorities and a lack of sensitivity. Griffin went on tweeting updates about the shooting, and defended his remarks, saying he had been making similar comments all week.

Minutes later, Griffin was already tweeting an apology: “The shooting today is a terrible and inexcusable tragedy and an act of terroism. No one but the shooter is to blame. I tweeted out of emotion but agree that the timing was not helpful.”

His original tweet attacking Obama, Pelosi and Schumer has since been deleted. Here’s how the tweets unfolded:
