24-year-old Colleen Ritzer, the Danvers High School math teacher who was killed in an apparent murder, used her Twitter account to update her students about homework assignments just two days before her body was found.

On her Twitter profile @msritzermath, Ritzer, who went to Assumption College, described herself as “math teacher often too excited about the topics I’m teaching.” She often tweeted enthusiastically to her students, sending birthday wishes and good luck before PSAT exams. Just two days ago, she changed her Facebook cover photo to an image of the Boston skyline with the message “Boston strong.” She also recently uploaded a photo of a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote: “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded.”

Ritzer, who taught algebra and geometry, was reported missing about 11:20 Tuesday night after she did not answer her cell phone, according to Jonathan Blodgett, District Attorney of Essex County. Her body was found in the woods behind the school early Wednesday morning. Philip Chism, 14, faces first-degree murder charges, and is being charged as an adult.

Friends, students and others who have heard about her death have taken to Twitter to offer their condolences. On of Ritzer’s recently tweeted messages, “Find something good in every day :)” continues to be quoted and retweeted by mourners.
