Dogs often bring home dead squirrels or other small animals, but one dog shocked her owner when she came home with a human leg.

Bill Flowers of Nisqually Reservation, Wash., discovered a human leg when he saw his dog Liberty hovering over it after she brought it home, reports KOMO.

Flowers, 93, told KOMO the leg was intact. “I picked it up, and looked at the toes and nothing,” he said. “None of the leg or foot was damaged — from the knee down it wasn’t damaged at all.” He added that the leg was gray and cut off about four inches away from the buttocks.

But Flowers was scared when he first saw the leg and buried it in his lawn. He was afraid police might accuse him of murdering the person. He told KOMO, “I didn’t want to have to go to the pen for something I didn’t do.” His daughter convinced him to call the police, and officers found even more body parts in the woods.

Police used search and rescue dogs to search the woods at the Nisqually Tribe’s old fish hatchery and found a pelvis and rib cage. Police are still searching the area for more body parts and Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock told KOMO that a pathologist will examine the remains for more information.
