Jose Barrera was horrified when he saw a photo of his dead son’s body on the satellite view of Google Maps. Kevin Barrera was only 14 years old when he was shot and killed on Aug. 15, 2009 near the railroad tracks in North Richmond, Calif., reports SFGate.

A satellite photo of the area was taken that day, and included the crime scene. Police officers and a police car are clearly visible in the photo, in addition to the boy’s body. Barrera only learned of the image a few days ago and he has asked that Google take it down. He told KTVU, “When I see this image, that’s still like that happened yesterday.”

Richmond police confirmed to SFGate that the photo was indeed of the crime scene and that the body is Kevin Barrera.

As of Monday, vice president of Google Vice President Brian McClendon said the company would make it a priority to replace the image, but the change won’t be instant. He wrote in a statement, “Our hearts go out to the family of this young boy. Since the media first contacted us about the image, we’ve been looking at different technical solutions. Google has never accelerated the replacement of updated satellite imagery from our maps before, but given the circumstances we wanted to make an exception in this case. We believe we can update this in eight days, and we’ve spoken to the family to let them know we’re working hard on the update.”
